A simple and quick solution to the problem does not seem to exist
The American Congress is in the process of preparing a plan to support those borrowers who are having difficulties in the repayment of their housing loans. 2.6 million people are reported to be in default and are therefore facing the possibility that their homes could be sold by the banks at auction to recoup loan repayments. |

Approximately one third of the 1.8 million properties in Spain built since 2005 which are mostly residential, remain unsold.The depression in Spanish real estate is becoming deeper and deeper, according to recent data. |

During the period 2004-2006, there was a boom in the property market in the occupied part of Cyprus with massive illegal sales of Greek Cypriot owned land and properties. Sales mainly came through increased publicity of these properties, mostly via the internet.
However, today the situation is entering a period of recession. Prospective investors and purchasers it seems are finally realising that the risks of buying property in the occupied areas are very real indeed. |

The property market in Bulgaria and Romania currently appears to be an attractive option for foreign buyers and investors.
These countries are enjoying a high level of direct investment from central and Eastern Europe. This has encouraged the interest and confidence of foreigner buyers in their property markets.
In 2007, the number of sales was around 395,000 deals, an increase of around 4-5% on the previous year. Around 25% of buyers were foreign investors. In Romania specifically, around 50% of property sales were made by purchasers from Greece, Spain and the United Kingdom. |

Kuwait has commissioned the design and construction of a new high tech city – ‘The City of Silk’ (Madinat Al Hareer in Arabic), a 250 square km urban area which is set to become an exciting magnet for international trade and tourism. The idea for the name was taken from the famous 'Road of Silk’ the route used by Western Europeans when trading with their Eastern partners, which was, of course, many years ago before the dawn of globalisation! |
