 The recent 19th FIFA World Cup hosted by South Africa was widely considered to be a resounding success. The tournament took place between 11th June and 11th July 2010 with 32 teams from all corners of the world playing in 10 stadiums around the country. Spectators in the stadiums totalled in excess of 3,000,000 with the final being played at Soccer City in Johannesburg. The tournament was finally won by Spain who took the title for the first time. They beat the Netherlands in extra time with a final score of 1-0. |
