Sleeps 2/4. 1 bedroom village house situated at top of Alhama. Views across town rooftops and valley. Renovated to highest standard. Rooftop terrace with BBQ. 5 mins walk from centre of this attractive, medieval town. Great little supermarket, centre of town has banks, shops, bars and restaurant.
Carefully and patiently renovated to the highest standard, Casa Esquina is a stunning house offering boutique-style accommodation at a very reasonable price. Our house has many of its original features including wooden beams and terracotta tiled floors but is also modern, comfortable and stylish. For summer swimming there's a local outdoor pool with shaded/grassed area and little bar. There's another outdoor pool next to a restaurant less than 10 minutes drive away. In the gorge there are lovely swimming holes in the Rio Alhama, a short and very attractive walk from Alhama. And, of course, you can take a picnic and swim in the beautiful Lake Bermejales.
Alhama de Granada, in the fertile heart of the Poniente Granadino in Southern Andalucia, is the perfect holiday destination. The town of Alhama offers history dating from Roman times through Moorish reign and up to modern days. Alhama is very attractive, traditional, bustling and precariously positioned running along the edge of an enormous limestone gorge, Los Tajos. Along the bottom of the gorge run the Rios Alhama and Merchan. Nearby, hot springs gurgle into four thermal pools next to the Rio Merchan. The town has grand, imposing Medieval architecture and lively bars surrounding attractive squares. Surrounding Alhama are soft, pastel shaded rolling hills, attractive small villages and stunning views extending to looming mountain ranges.
Alhama is perfectly situated, close enough for: an easy day or overnight trip to the splendid cities of Granada and Malaga; the sea air of the attractive seaside towns of Nerja and Almunecar; and the striking and exhilarating mountain regions of the Sierra Nevada and the Sierras Alhama, Tejeda and Almijara which offer great walking and winter sports.
